The HARAD fruit is one of the 3 constituents of the famous Indian preparation Triphala, other two being - Amla and Bahera. Harad fruit is used for digestive disorders, including diarrhea and constipation, as well as indigestion. It is also used orally for respiratory conditions, including respiratory tract infections, cough , and sore throat. It is also used orally for dysentery. It is also useful in asthma, vomiting, eye diseases, heart diseases, hiccup etc.,

HOW IT LOOKS
It is a moderate to large, deciduous tree with a rounded crown, spreading branches and yellowish white flowers. The shiny ovoid fruits are yellow to orange brown in colour with hard, pale yellow seeds.

WHAT IT DOES
It is astringent, anodyne, anti- inlammatory, stomachic, laxative, purgative, digestive, carminative, anthelmintic, diuretic and febrifuge.

HOW TO USE

In Hiccup- Powder of harad with hot water in  a dose of 5gm thrice a day relieves even long standing hiccup.

In Vomiting- Licking the powder of harad with honey is a sure remedy for nausea and vomiting.

Throat Infections- Mix 1 tsp of honey in a glass of decoction of  Harad in a glass of decoction of harad and consume twice a day.

Piles- Taking a tsp of harad powder with jaggery before food is highly beneficial.

Hyperacidity- Take equal quantities of harad powder and raisins. Over a period of time you will find hyperacidity relieved.

Arthritis- Mix a tsp pf harad powder in castor oil and swallow. This relieves the swelling and smoothens joint movements.

In Toothache- Apply a fine powder of harad directly on the painful tooth for relief from the ache.

In Fungal infections and scabies- Apply a paste of harad and turmeric to the affected part daily until the skin turns completely normal.
 
In any skin allergy - Wash the area with harad decoction and drink the same twice a day.
 
In Obesity- Use tripahala powder  a combination of "harad , bahera and amla " ( chebulic and belleric myrobylan and gooseberry); a tsp daily with honey on empty stomach and watch the fat melt away.
 
 

HIBISCUS

Hibiscus is a compact plant with shiny foliage that produces huge, colorful, trumpet- shaped flowers over a long season. They can be planted in containers, as long as they are kept well watered and fed in a well draining medium. Other common names are Chinese hibiscus and tropical hibiscus.

Hibiscus is a sweet, astringent, cooling herb. It can be planted singly or grown as a hedge plant ; it can also be pruned into a single stemmed small tree. The flowers are attractive to butterflies and humming birds.
 
BENEFITS:
Hibiscus is rich in anti - oxidants. Antioxidants eliminate free radicals, which have a damaging effect on your body. Because of the high amounts of antioxidants, it greatly lowers blood pressure, reduces cholesterol levels and also decreases the chances of developing heart disorders.

As Hibiscus is rich in vitamin c , It helps in boosting the immune system and can also help in weight loss.
